Our officials who were participating in the conference on Turkish Public Diplomacy, co-hosted by University of South California Annaberg School of Journalism and Yunus Emre Institute on 29 September, 2023, were targeted and harrassed verbally and physically by radical Armenian groups.

 

 

 

The US Diplomatic Security Unit and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) took the necessary security measures to prevent the events, taking place on the University campus, from escalating.

 

 

 

It is worrying that the hate speech by radical diaspora groups, targeting our country and Azerbaijan, and more recently the Armenian Government and the peace process in the region, has evolved into an act of violence. We will initiate the necessary legal process against those who physically assaulted our delegation.

 

 

 

 

This incident demonstrated once again that, distortion of historical events for narrow and local political motives and statements made to please extremist groups embolden radicalization, hate speech and violence.

On the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö.

 

 

 

During the talks, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Finland is the largest trade partner of Kazakhstan and holds leading positions in terms of investment among the countries of Northern Europe. The presence of huge potential for further strengthening of political, trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation was emphasized.

 

 

 

In turn, Sauli Niinistö said that Kazakhstan is a very important partner of Finland and expressed readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation on the whole range of bilateral agenda.

They also exchanged views on topical issues of international politics, including in the context of UN reform.

 

 

 

Head of State invited the President of Finland to take part in the next Astana International Forum as one of the main speakers of the event.

On September 5, 2023, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov held talks with Ambassador of the European Union Charlotte Adriaen.

 

 

 

 

The parties discussed topical issues of interaction between Uzbekistan and the European Union. Special attention was paid to the schedule and organizational aspects of upcoming visits and joint events at various levels and formats.

 

 

 

 

The sides also exchanged views on expanding the legal framework for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

On July 26, 2023, consultations were held in the format of a videoconference between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan S.Muhriddin, Turkmenistan R. Meredov, and the Republic of Uzbekistan B.Saidov.

 

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, the issues of preparation and holding of the Summit of the Presidents of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which will be held in Ashgabat in early August this year, were discussed.

The Ministers discussed the draft program, the agenda of the upcoming meeting, as well as the draft final document of the Summit.

 

 

 

 

 

In this context, the Ministers exchanged views on priority aspects of regional cooperation.

Presidents of Kazakhstan and Germany hold tet-a-tet talks

At the Akorda residence, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held negotiations with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany, who arrived in Kazakhstan on a state visit.

 

 

 

 

 

Prior the negotiations, there was an official welcoming ceremony in honor of German Federal President. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Frank-Walter Steinmeier introduced each other members of the official delegations. Chief of the Guard of Honor gave a welcoming report to the leaders, then the national anthems of Kazakhstan and Germany were performed. Then, at the Eastern Hall the two Presidents held a tet-a-tet meeting.

 

 

 

President Tokayev and President Steinmeier discussed the state and prospects of Kazakh-German strategic partnership. Special focus was given on enhancing political dialogue, deepening of cooperation in trade and economic, investment, energy, transport and logistics areas.

 

 

 

 

The two leaders stressed the importance of boosting cooperation within the Middle Corridor and expanding mutually beneficial interaction in oil and gas, green energy and industry.

 

 

 

 

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Frank-Walter Steinmeier exchanged views on pressing issues of the international and regional agenda.

 

 

 

 

The talks held in a friendly manner and were constructive and substantive. President Tokayev and President Steinmeier have reached agreement to strengthen cooperation in a number of areas of bilateral economic agenda.

 

 

 

 

 

Following the talks, the two Presidents continued negotiations with the presence of the delegations of the two countries.

Presidents of Kazakhstan and Singapore held talks

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with President Halimah Yacob of Singapore, who are in Kazakhstan on a state visit.

The talks were preceded by an official welcoming ceremony at the Akorda. The Head of the Guard of Honour gave a welcoming report to the Presidents. The national anthems of the two states were played followed by joint photo session. After that the leaders proceeded to the meeting venue.

Presidents thoroughly discussed the current development and prospects of the Kazakh-Singaporean relations focusing on strengthening the political dialogue, deepening trade and economic cooperation, and expanding cultural and humanitarian ties.

 

Welcoming Halimah Yacob, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commended her strong leadership in navigating Singapore at such a challenging time.

“We feel proud that Kazakhstan is the first Central Asian country ever visited by the Singaporean President. So, your visit to Kazakhstan is a historic event. I am confident that your visit will herald a new chapter in our mutually reinforcing cooperation. Kazakhstan is strongly committed to further strengthening ties and interaction with Singapore,” the President said.

March 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Singapore. In this context, the President of Kazakhstan noted that over this period two countries have established a mutually trusted political dialogue and active parliamentary cooperation.

 

Trade, economic and investment cooperation plays a key role in Kazakh-Singaporean relations. President Tokayev underlined that today our country is home to over 140 Singaporean entities and joint ventures.

“As a result, overall Singaporean investments into the Kazakh economy have exceeded 1.4 billion dollars. Despite the economic and pandemic turmoil, last year our bilateral trade approached 2 billion dollars. I think it is a very good result,” President Tokayev said.

The President underscored that there have been established a robust institutional network for bilateral cooperation, driven by the Kazakh-Singapore Business Council.

“We will encourage our people to go to Singapore as tourists. And, of course, our gates will always be open for your tourists and businessmen from your country. So once again I would like to underscore that Kazakhstan is seriously committed to having close relations with your country,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

 

In turn, Halimah Yacob thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the invitation and warm hospitality extended to her and the Singaporean delegation. She commended the level of political dialogue and mutually beneficial partnership between Kazakhstan and Singapore.

“You are quite right. This is the first ever visit of a Singaporean President to Kazakhstan, and in fact, to whole Central Asian area. So it is a significant visit. As you know, Kazakhstan is a very valuable partner for us in the Central Asia region. Because we can see you basically as the regional leader, and that’s very important for us. We’ve kept very good relations over many years. We also have certain common beliefs and support an open rules and order, which is important for both Kazakhstan and for us as well,” the Singaporean President noted.

Along with this, parties discussed the importance of strategic partnership between the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Public Policy and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

 

The leaders of two countries exchanged opinions on expanding export capacity and opening joint ventures on the soil of our country. In particular, they talked about the status of implementation of a joint investment project on development of G4 City in Almaty region, and expansion of cooperation between financial institutions.

In addition, the presidents considered the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the framework of bridging the Trans-Caspian international transport corridor and BRI, as well as launching direct air connections between two countries.

During the conversation, a number of topical issues on the international agenda were also discussed, including Kazakhstan and Singapore’s interaction within international organizations.

 

At the end of the meeting, the Presidents have witnessed the signing of a number of documents, in particular:

1. Agreement on Trade in Services and Investment between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Singapore;

2. Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Singapore on Cooperation on Capacity Building Programme for Government Officials of the C5 countries;

3. Cooperation Agreement between Astana International Financial Center and Enterprise Singapore;

4. Memorandum of understanding between Joint-Stock Company «Сenter for Trade Policy Development «QazTrade» and Enterprise Singapore.

A meeting with Azerbaijani community was held in Rome

Rome, Italy hosted a meeting of the Azerbaijani community held within the framework of 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, founder of modern Azerbaijan.

The meeting started with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan.

Elshad Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, welcomed meeting participants and spoke about Heydar Aliyev’s unparalleled services in the sphere of diaspora-building, his role at bringing World Azerbaijanis together. Elshad Aliyev has noted that Heydar Aliyev’s political course is now being continued by President Ilham Aliyev efficiently.

Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Italy Rashad Aslanov, speaking at the event, recalled the essential role that Heydar Aliyev played in establishing relations between the two countries. Mr. Ambassador also spoke about important tasks ahead and emphasized the need for consistent activity by the Azerbaijani community.

 

 

 

 

The meeting continued with the demonstration of a video reflecting the life and activities of the great leader of Azerbaijan.

Later, the participants were informed about the activity of the State Committee, the implemented projects, the current situation of Azerbaijani diaspora in Italy. The participants have been told that the fourth Summer Camp of Diaspora Youth will be held in Nakhchivan within the framework of the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”.

The meeting ended up with exchanging of ideas.

The employees of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora met with Azerbaijanis living in San Jose and surrounding cities of California.

 

 

 

 

The meeting started with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and US, followed by one-minute silence to honour those, who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

In her opening speech, Aynur Aghayeva, head of Azerbaijan Cultural Society of Northern California, spoke about the organization she leads.

The event continued with the demonstration of videos covering the activity of the Committee. Then, Diaspora March was played.

After greeting the meeting participants, Fuad Muradov, chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora expressed his gratitude to the community members for conducting extensive information campaign and organizing large scale actions across the US during Second Karabakh War and post-war period.

Committee chairman recalled President Ilham Aliyev’s recommendations sounded at the Fifth Congress of World Azerbaijanis and gave information about multi-sided activity of the State Committee, Coordination Councils, Azerbaijani Houses and weekend Azerbaijani schools, Summer Camps of Diaspora Youth and other large-scaled projects.

 

 

 

In their speeches, Ramiz Dashdemirov, Consul of the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles and employee of Azerbaijani embassy in US shared their own opinions about the activity of Azerbaijani community and provided recommendations in this regard.

It has been noted that city of San Jose hosts the largest number of Azerbaijanis living in California, US. Our young compatriots work mainly in the fields of science and IT.

Furthermore, a video of President Ilham Aliyev’s speech on the occasion of Victory Day was presented.

Representatives of diaspora organizations operating in California, active members of diaspora and US also attended the meeting. The attention was drawn to the results of the consistent, purposeful and systematic work carried out in the direction of the institution of the Azerbaijani diaspora.

Our compatriots thanked the chairman and staff of the Committee for gathering together the Azerbaijanis living in California, US and for taking such a close interest in them. They assessed this meeting as one of the important steps taken in the direction of formation of a network of Azerbaijanis living abroad. Our compatriots have told that they will continue to defend the just position of Azerbaijan in their countries of residence, and they will always uphold and promote the interests of our people and our Republic.

The meeting ended with mutual exchange of ideas.

Azerbaijani House has officially been opened in North York district of Ontario province of Canada.

Employees of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Azerbaijan’s Chargé d’affaires in Canada Vasif Abutalibov, representatives of the Canadian government and parliament, consul general of Turkey, local residents and representatives of India, Jewish and Uzbekistan communities, heads and members of Azerbaijani diaspora organizations attended the event.

 

 

 

 

After ribbon-cutting ceremony, National Anthem of Azerbaijan and Diaspora Anthem were played; dear memory of the martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of our country was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Moderator of the opening ceremony was Tony Ruprecht, former minister and MP. He emphasized the importance of establishing Azerbaijani Houses from the standpoint of the preservation and promotion of national culture and its transmission to the younger generation.

Then the Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Fuad Muradov, congratulated our compatriots on the occasion of the opening of Azerbaijani House in Canada, and assessed this fact as an obvious indicator of our country’s growing attention towards our compatriots living abroad.

Speaker of the Canada-Azerbaijani Interparliamentary Friendship Group Philip Lawrence, MP Ali Ahsasi, member of local government Michael Tibollo, Consul General of Turkey in Toronto Sinem Mingan, regional head of Gizilbash Global Heritage Council Arshi Gizilbash congratulated the Azerbaijani community on such an important event.

Then, a video depicting the activities of Azerbaijan House was demonstrated.

More than 200 members of the Azerbaijani community attended the opening ceremony. Committee Chairman Fuad Muradov welcomed the participants of the event, which was also attended by our compatriots from South Azerbaijan. He expressed his gratitude to the community members for conducting an extensive information campaign and organizing large-scale actions in the province of Ontario for promoting the truth of Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War.

Speaking at the event, Lalin Hasanova, the head of “Vatan” Azerbaijan Art and Culture Center and Azerbaijan House, gave information about the directions of activities. “Azerbaijani House is the home of all of us, each of us should support this house” she said.

 

 

Then, a video about the activity of “Vatan” Azerbaijan Art and Culture Centre was demonstrated.

Committee chairman listed to the proposals of our compatriots and answered their questions.

It was stated that the establishment of the Azerbaijani House was a great gift for all our compatriots. They expressed their opinions and put forward proposals regarding the delivery of the true voice of our country to the world community.

The Azerbaijanis from South Azerbaijan expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the support.

People’s artist of Azerbaijan, winner of the President’s scholarship Hasan Enami, Tabriz Azerbaijani Music & Dance Ensemble, violinist Jeyhun Ismayilov performed at artistic part of the event.
