<p>Anticipated Karate competition to cause a sensation at The World Games<br />
The Karate competition at The World Games is ready to begin. A hectic day of preparations put the Karate event all set up to become one of the sensations of The World Games 2022.</p>
<p>No less than 94 athletes from 41 countries are registered to participate in the Karate tournament of The World Games 2022. The final day before the start of the competition was filled with events to ensure that the Karate competition will be a success.</p>
<p>The officials opened the day of meetings with a gathering to review the final details of the refereeing aspects of the competition. The Referee briefing was chaired by WKF Referee Commission chairman Javier Escalante and had WKF President Antonio Espinós, WKF CEO Sara Wolff, and WKF Secretary General Toshihisa Nagura in attendance.</p>
<p>After the weigh-in of the competitors of the Kumite categories, and with the set-up of the magnificent Bill Battle Coliseum sports hall finalised, the referees and athletes did the venue familiarization to get to know the particularities of the field of play.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The coach meeting and the competition draw completed the hectic day as athletes got to know their pools, the matches, and the road they need to follow to claim the medals of the event. Chaired by WKF Organising Commission chairman Esteban Perez, the meeting had the participation of WKF President Antonio Espinós, WKF Secretary General Toshihisa Nagura, WKF Referee Commission chairman Javier Escalante, and WKF CEO Sara Wolff.</p>
<p>WKF President Antonio Espinós said:</p>
<p>“The World Games is not only one of the highlight events of the year for Karate; it is a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the tremendous added value that our sport brings to multi-sport events.</p>
<p>“We have been part of the programme of The World Games since the first edition and we are proud to be one of the founding sports. Our commitment to the progress of The World Games is unparalleled and we will do our utmost to make sure that this edition will be the best one yet.</p>
<p>“I am convinced that the athletes will showcase their outstanding abilities here in Birmingham, as they always do, and that Karate fans will enjoy two fantastic days of the best Karate!”.</p>

<p>The third Karate 1-Youth League event of the season will be held this weekend in Porec (Croatia). The tournament is scheduled for July 1 to 3 and it continues an event-filled week in the idyllic city of Croatia.</p>
<p>This is all you need to know about #Karate1Porec:</p>
<p>WHAT</p>
<p>The 2022 Karate 1-Youth League Porec is the third event of the season after the successful competitions in Acapulco and Limassol.<br />
The season of the series of international events for youngsters started in Acapulco (Mexico) from January 20 to 23.<br />
Limassol (Cyprus) hosted the second event of the season from April 29 to May 01.<br />
The Karate 1-Youth League is a competition conceived to highlight the impact of Karate at young ages. Established under the umbrella of Karate 1 and designed to complete Karate 1-Premier League and Karate 1-Series A, the Karate 1-Youth League is a platform for the development of youngsters in their quest to progress in the sport.<br />
WHERE</p>
<p>The event will take place in Porec (Croatia) at the Zatika Sports Centre.<br />
One of the most popular fixture venues for international Karate, Porec has hosted two editions of the WKF Youth Camp &amp; Cup and the 2021 European Championships. This year Porec is hosting the second consecutive event of the Karate 1-Youth League.<br />
WHEN</p>
<p>The tournament is scheduled for July 01 to 03.<br />
The competition starts on Friday, July 1 at 09:00 (local time GMT +2) and it will continue throughout the weekend until Sunday when the event will conclude at 20:00 (local time).<br />
The finals will be held at the end of each competition day.<br />
WHO</p>
<p>No less than 1955 athletes from 55 countries have registered to participate in the event.<br />
Italy present the largest delegation with 379 participants. Hosts of Croatia with 139 participants and Germany with 122 competitors also bring numerous delegations to the event.<br />
This tally of assistants represents a record of participation this season and it brings the event back to pre-pandemic attendance.<br />
Last year over 1500 athletes from 50 countries participated in the event.<br />
Ukraine topped the medal table of the last edition with six golds. The delegations of Italy, with four gold medals, and Montenegro with three golds also registered successful performances.<br />
No less than 16 countries went home with gold medals last year.<br />
HOW</p>
<p>The competition follows a knockout format.<br />
The event comprises 31 categories and it is destined for competitors aged 12 to 17.<br />
