We congratulate Bosnia and Herzegovina for being granted European Union candidate status at the European Council Summit held in Brussels on 14-15 December 2022.

Türkiye takes many steps towards the peace and prosperity of the Balkans, of which we are a part, both at the bilateral and international level, and supports all efforts in this direction. Within this framework, Türkiye has supported the integration of the Balkan countries with the EU and the Euro-Atlantic institutions from the very beginning.

In this respect, we welcome the aforementioned decision of the EU and consider that it will make a contribution to the peace and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

We believe that the conditions specified in the decision will be fulfilled by Bosnia and Herzegovina as soon as possible, and we expect the EU to constructively support the process.

On this occasion, we emphasize once again the importance of conducting the negotiation processes of EU candidate countries, including Türkiye, in a fair and determined manner, without being politicized by myopic national motives.

No: 277, 4 September 2022, Press Release Regarding Türkiye’s Obtaining Observer Status in the Andean Community

 

Within the scope of our developing relations with the Latin America and Caribbean region, we continue our efforts to strengthen our cooperation with the countries of the region on multilateral platforms and to institutionalize our relations with regional institutions for this purpose.

In this framework, our application for observer membership to the Andean Community, one of the leading economic integration organizations of the region, of which Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia are members, was accepted by consensus at the Foreign Ministers Commission meeting held in Lima, the capital of Peru, on 29 August 2022 and herewith, Türkiye has become an observer member of the Andean Community.

As a result of the decision that came into force on September 2, 2022, we believe that our cooperation with the Andean Community and its members, which will further develop from now on, will contribute to the strengthening of our political dialogue with the region, as well as deepening and diversifying our economic and commercial relations.
